Celebrity 1

Featured Guest Article By Maria Joyce

Celebrity style is such a big deal that countless magazines (Seventeen, Cosmopolitan) literally BASE themselves off documenting what each celebrity wore/wears (other than trying to keep tabs on their personal lives). Celebrity Style Guide is a blog that focuses on how one can pull of celebrity looks. The recent Met Gala had social media companies like Buzzfeed.com basing its content on documenting what each celebrity wore, and details about their dresses.
So, you might want to avoid the pitfalls that come with imitating celebrity style to be more on point and up your lookbook or #OOTD game. Luckily, for you, we’ve compiled a list of dos and don’ts to guide you better regarding celebrity style.

Throwback Thursday: Solange Chats With Brooklyn Magazine

Solange in BK mag feature image

Solange Knowles may not be on a global takeover tour like her big sister, but she is definitely dominating on the local front, especially here in NYC.  Even though she is a fairly new resident to Brooklyn, she epitomizes much of the eclectic and creative vibe that resides there. Not to be confused with the hipster subculture movement alive and well in BK, Solange has a special way of making the past new again.

She’s featured in Brooklyn Magazine showcasing her unique “throwback” style, as she discusses how she has embraced the past and how she’s discovering to live in the present.

Known to be a trend creator not  follower, Solange continues to be an “it girl” with a great sensibility for mixing past and present in her style. It doesn’t hurt that she seems to be born of another time and glows with a beautiful old soul. Continue Reading

Beyonce may have thought her song Run the World (Girls)” was the next girl power track of this generation, but another iconic diva before her recorded the most popular female empowerment anthem of all time. Chaka Khan has always been a one of a kind artist with vocals that match her bold presence and fashion sense.

Throwback Thursday: T-Boz, Left Eye, Chilli…TLC

TLC feature image

When I think back to the best moments and memories of my teenage years, music was always a huge part of it. In the 90’s, the music was so much fun and there were so many great songs! Most of the songs being played on the radio or on TV were R&B girl groups, they were everywhere. TLC was a girl group that was like no other we had seen before, and will probably never see again.

It is easy to say that the 70’s groups of Motown unlocked the doors to this concept, and then in 1992 TLC kicked those doors wide open! With their debut album: Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip, they immediately caught everyone’s eyes and ears with Continue Reading

Music Monday – Sweet Dreams

So far it seems that Beyonce has set out to make 2013 everything but a dream. She is back with on the scene in a way different reality. She’s a mother, she had a inauguration scandal, dominated the Super Bowl, took home another Grammy, spoke to mama Oprah, released a (semi) concert/life story documentary, and now  her upcoming World Tour Concert is sure to be the things dreams are made of!

It was a highly anticipated performance which her Stans and Pepsi had a done a great job at promotingBeyonce, lived up to the hype and lit up the stage (literally)!  Of course her performance (and Destiny’s Child Reunion) were the highlights of her halftime showcase, but it was her outfit that caught the most attention throughout social media…

CFDA awards feature image
The organization that produces the “Oscars of Fashion”- the CFDA is celebrating 50 years of service to the fashion industry. This year’s awards ceremony was held at the Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, where the CFDA festivities started with a fashion show that included pieces from some of its 400-plus members.

Mixing Mayhem!

mixed-prints- feature image 1
Have you taken notice to the latest and very quirky rage this season of …Mixing prints??? Hot or Not? I am still in a fix about this one, nevertheless thought penning it down and sharing it with you guys would make it a bit clear for me. Let’s see if at the end of this post we ditch this trend or embrace it. Excited!

Think chocolate on grilled chicken?  Tad strange combination? Well this trend is pretty much on similar lines. Polka dots with leopard print. Florals with stripes. This trend is for those who are not afraid to move out of their comfort zone, be a little crazy with the mishmashes and be able to pull it off like top ensembles.
