Tropical Trend...Every Day of the Week

Until recently the idea of wearing a “tropical print” under the age of 65, usually meant cheesy vacation shirts or granny style loungewear caftans. These days the tropical print (either floral, Palm or a combo) has resurfaced in a anti- cheesy way. It’s an easy trend that anyone can incorporate without seeming too addicted to the trend or overly trendy. We will give you 7 examples of how you can rock this bold print trend throughout the week while on vacation or on a stay-cation this summer. Continue Reading

Californian cult label, Banana Republic, is almost as well known for its innovative and highly successful collaborations as it is for its effortless, all American style. Last Summer saw Banana Republic join forces with fellow Californian, Trina Turk. This latest stylish collaboration, with New York based label Milly NY by Michelle Smith, could possibly be Banana Republic’s most lucrative to date. Continue Reading

Classics Unite: Levi’s x Liberty

I first found out about this collaboration via a good ‘ol facebook promoted ad. A simple image of a Volkswagen Beetle and an English Taxi with small purple logos rolled into my newsfeed, and I immediately wanted to find out more. (those smart marketing guys) 😉

It’s going to be a (bright) yellow summer

B1 Image1 feature

Aside from a few sporadic days, teasing us with a taste of what summer might become, the sun has yet to put in a noteworthy appearance. Nevertheless, fashion’s finest delivered a variety of very worthy summer collections, with clashing patterns and bold colours taking precedence. One particular colour that strikes a note for this spring/summer is (bright) yellow.

Sickly neon, bitter-sweet lemon, subtle mustard and bold dandelion are all note-worthy shades. Though be warned if, like me, your skin is suffering the trauma of a frost-bitten winter, try wearing yellow accessories as an accent colour. A fluro yellow clutch and stilettos will add interest to a monochrome dress, plus it is an easy way to work two trends in one outfit.

Eco-Fashion Eye (Wood) Wear

Eco-friendly apparel and accessories are nothing new, but there has been an increased shift in taping into making items more fashion forward at the same time. There are designer clothing labels taping into this concept which many hope to make a “style, instead of just a trend” within the industry. (sidenote: check out www.fashionmegreen.com)

The most recent eco-fashion trend accessories movement that I have been noticing, has been to create sustainable and eco-friendly eyewear.

Summer In The City!

I absolutely LOVE New York City in the Summer! Yes, the temps can get unbearable at times, but there’s always so much to see and do that you just stop into a bodega for a cool drink and keep it moving!

I mentioned in yesterday’s post that last week’s Fashion Star challenge was all about warm weather looks. Well, this post is for one of the other winning looks that I really thought was a “must have” for your summer wardrobe.

Summer In The City

The Beach Is Your Runway

Last week’s Fashion Star “It’s Getting Hot In Here” episode challenge was all about warm weather looks. The themes for the challenge included “Tropical Vacation”, “Pool Party” and “Summer in the City”. The designers worked in groups on their “mentor teams” and were challenged to create a collection that was inspired by their given theme.

It may not be Summer yet, but Spring is truly starting to appear. This means more chances to enjoy the weather outdoors and for many soon heading to the beach will become part of the routine. Below I used one of the (now sold out) winning looks, a maxi dress by Designer Cassandra Hobbins. I styled her easy breezy beach dress with accessories all from the same store -Express.com

Style me up at ZARA!

shopping girls feature image
It was a bright Saturday afternoon and massive end of season sale time. I couldn’t think of anything better, but a day out in town with my girls, frolicking around, shopping and styling. As we hopped from one mall to another, one store to another, I came up with the bright idea of playing “style up”. My friend happily agreed and once we started, there was no stopping.

We first hit my favorite high street store, Zara! Zara has been my shopping paradise for the past 5 years now. I almost always find everything I need in that store. With the mercury rising, I first picked high waist vintage shorts in Continue Reading
