I usually don’t catch commercials because I don’t like to watch live TV, lol. However on occasion I have the TV on as background noise while I work and recently I caught a commercial that I had to watch.

Versailles ’73: American Runway Revolution Screening Event Review

http://www.versailles73movie.com/videos.html

You may remember the post that I wrote about “Versailles ’73”, after I saw a short  clip of the documentary streaming when I attended the Stephen Burrows “When Fashion Danced” exhibit at the mcny.org. It still baffles me that I had never heard of this historic “runway showdown” which took place only 40+ years ago. Well, I was even more surprised a couple of weeks ago to receive an invitation to attend a screening event to view the film! So, you can imagine my excitement to RSVP (ASAP..lol!).

The Eco Fashion Movement of 2013…

garyharveynewspaperdress feature

“Being green is the new black”…. I know this has been said many times before, but I completely agree with that statement! I don’t think sustainable fashion will ever go out of style. I think we’re just now starting to see more and more evidence of the “Eco Fashion Movement” becoming more popular over the last few years. From the quirky challenges on Project Runway to the noted “true pioneer of eco-chic” Stella McCartney to the increasingly popular DIY fashion and accessory creations on such global websites as Etsy.com… we have seen the idea of being “fashion conscious” take on a very new concept.

Gem Party Nails

Even though the idea of unique manicure colors, nail shapes, and DIY designs have been increasing in popularity over the past three years or so, there is always something more that can be done. I recently watched NYLON MagTV’s latest “Beauty Queen: DIY GEM PARTY NAILS WITH BUTTER LONDON”, Tutorial video by Katie Hughes really caught my eye.

In last year’s blockbuster movie The Hunger Games nail design lovers everywhere could not stop talking about Effie Trinket’s 3D embellishments on her nails. It is now Continue Reading

Music Monday – Sweet Dreams

So far it seems that Beyonce has set out to make 2013 everything but a dream. She is back with on the scene in a way different reality. She’s a mother, she had a inauguration scandal, dominated the Super Bowl, took home another Grammy, spoke to mama Oprah, released a (semi) concert/life story documentary, and now  her upcoming World Tour Concert is sure to be the things dreams are made of!

Since she is so prominent in music/performance news right now, I thought she would be great to start off my new “Music Monday’s” feature category. I have been a fan Continue Reading

Black Music Month – Pharrell’s Stereotypes

Streotypes feature image
Our first Monday Music Feature for Black Music Month is the very unique and creative music mogul, writer/composer, producer, artist, and fashion entrepreneur – Pharrell Williams. In 1994, after being involved in the music industry since he was in his early 20s, Pharrell and his childhood friend, Chad Hugo established themselves as a production duo called “The Neptunes”; which was the same name as their  “R&B type” group they had formed in high school. They went onto writing and producing tracks and songs for an eclectic range of artists throughout the late 90s.

In 2001, The Neptunes were getting recognized as the producers to work with for hit records. Later that same year they were working as a group and producing their own albums, and formed a hip-hop/rock/funk band N.E.R.D (No One Ever Really Dies) with friend Shay Haley, under Virgin Records label. In 2005, their band ended their contract Continue Reading

The fact that the 2014 FIFA World Cup is set to be held in Brazil has been reigniting global interest in the sexiest country in South America. For now, one thing is for sure… you don’t have to own a passport to be able to get a taste of Brazil right now! There have been various new events including beautiful Amazon Rainforest themed flower shows, that have been on the rise, making it evident that Brazil has come to the U.S. Often when someone thinks about Brazil- it’s the food, music and tropical flowers that may come to mind, but most of the time swimwear is top of the list!

So it should come as no surprise that today we’re highlighting a new Brazilian based swimwear company – Xcluzv Lifestyle Brands Inc. The company made its initial U.S. launch on March 23, 2012 with a preview of their 2012 Cruise & Summer line on a mobile web based internet site.

They also recently shared a “Behind The Scenes” video from their last photo shoot with their potential buyers and Continue Reading
