The Set NYC, who has become known for showcasing some of New York’s up and coming creative talent, held a one night-only fashion event at the Holy Apostles Ballroom in Chelsea last night. The venue alone is an amazing backdrop to any dramatic or artistic event or performance. Fashion Night Out was the type of event that a unique venue choice will only better highlight the designers work and compliment the creative atmosphere.
I arrived fashionably late and missed the first runway show by Reverie New York, and if it was anything like the other two shows, I definitely missed out by running late!! The last two shows featured collections by Alex Vinash and (Project Runway Alum), Irina Shabayeva.
It’s #FootwearFriday!! One of the reasons that I love footwear is because it’s one of the easiest accessories to use to update or upgrade any outfit. Throw on a white tee and jeans with a colorful funky heel and your look is automatically fashion forward!
On Tuesday, I had the pleasure to attend the 2015 FFANY Shoe Show and Spring 2016 Trend Presentation. I’m always interested in seeing the newest shapes, innovative materials, and new brands within accessories and in the industry as a whole. So you can imagine how exciting it was to be invited to see the upcoming trends in the footwear industry!
Yesterday I went to an amazing stylist panel event during the Vulture Festival held at Milk Studios and hosted by Vulture + New York Magazine. There was an entire agenda of talks and events going on over the duration of the two day festival that took place over the weekend. I usually search Eventbrite for different to find events to attend. This was my first time hearing about the Vulture Festival, who’s tagline is “A Pop-Culture Extrvaganza!” I knew I had to check it out!
This past Wednesday I had the pleasure of attending the Zero Power Smart Fashion event held at the Metropolitan Pavilion. The event was organized by the Zero Power Swiss initiative, Guardian Angels EPFL, swissnex Boston, and ETH Zurich.
“The goal of this special, one-day exhibition and symposium is to showcase the latest innovations in wearable technologies, and to connect the fashion and high-tech industries with the research institutions and universities from the US and Europe.“
It is that time of the year when most of our favorite designers present their ready to wear collections (prêt-à-porter), at fashion week shows around the globe, highlighting the fashion to be sold in the next season. So I am here with my review of one of my favorite designer’s collection, Tadashi Shoji.
If you have been reading the blog for awhile you may remember my interview with Nnene Janice Essien, who is the founder of OBA Designs by NJE. Her line features everyday pieces in African wax print which are made in Nigeria, and will be showcased this weekend at the 11th Annual FestAfrica!
So far I have been able to visit the exhibit and attend the screening for Versailles ’73 documentary in which he is highlighted. Unfortunately, I have to miss this very exciting event, but wanted to share it with you all just in case you are free and able to attend!
