DOVF Interview with Aziza Morgan – One Woman, Many Talents

What I love about social media is the networking factor that it allows you to have at the touch of a finger. There are so many cool people that you can meet on social media that you never would cross paths with organically in regular life. This happened to me recently while scrolling through my “likes” on Instagram. A person with the handle @artlovescompany had liked one of my pics, I was intrigued by the name so I checked out their profile page. What I found was this amazingly talented and beautiful individual. Read on to find out more about the woman behind the profile: Aziza Morgan.
Aziza 2There were images of everything from her personal style, to hair tips, writing samples, to music, to photography and her adorable newborn! I then went through and liked pretty much all of her pics, lol. I had to know more about her and how she juggled all these talents as well as being a new mom. As usual, whenever I find/meet new people that are unique and creative I love to share them with you. So, I setup a time to chat with her and found out there’s even ore to her than what is seen in the visual collage I first was introduced to on Instagram. I was introduced to Aziza Morgan, but I also met Charlie, August, Margot, and Lola. These are the personalities that make up Art Loves Company, the persona and the brand.

DOVF Interview: A Creative Chat with Jewelry Designer Aisa Marie Corrales

Models 1

Back in June of last year, I had attended The Set NYC – Fashion Night Out! event for the first time and really enjoyed capturing the “style from the aisles” as noted in this blog post. This past September I had the pleasure of attending again. This was one of the events that I was looking forward to the most, as it encompassed fashion, food, drinks and shopping. The Set NYC charity and fashion event also tends to showcase up and coming designers as well as other fashion creatives. This time I focused more on getting to know the designers that were showcasing there work on the outskirts of the runway. The first highlighted designer that caught my eye had models standing on a platform showcasing very exquisite and unique jewelry pieces, which truly looked like works of art!
As I approached the models to get a better look and to take a few pictures, I noticed that the designer seemed to be standing close by. I introduced myself and told her how amazing her collection of work was, as we chatted she seemed so humble and excited to be showing off her work. I had to stay in contact with her as I knew she would be up to great things and I wanted a front row seat to her journey. As usual with all my interviews, I thought it would be great to share with you the person behind this amazing work. Read on and get to know how broken jewelry made her who she is today, why Taylor Swift is her style crush and where in the world you will be able to shop Aisa Marie Corrales Designs soon!

#WeddingWednesday: Jessie Lynn of MOD Events

MOD events by Jessie Lynn logo
Are you a recently engaged fiancé or in a committed relationship and will be planning a wedding or ceremony event soon? Does the thought of having to find all the different vendors to help you with the flowers, decor, and other decision making factors make you a little less excited and want to just elope? Sure, you could get a Wedding Planner, but they still have to check in with you and may not be able to deliver what you really want for your special day.
Similarly to how when seeking out a new wardrobe, many women seek out the assistance of a fashion stylist to help them come up with an overall “theme” of their new wardrobe, a new bride might want to seek out the assistance of a wedding stylist to assist with creating a theme and overall process for their wedding.  How great would it be to have customized options already created for you that you could either then take as a “wedding portfolio to all of your vendors, or better yet work with a stylist who already has a relationship with credible and experienced vendors? There is now a company and service that will provide a wedding stylist to help you plan and execute your big day with ease and sophistication…

One To Watch – A Chat With Emerging Designer: Satu Maaranen

Last Tuesday, I attended the Première Vision NY and Indigo NY (textile and print design shows), for Fall-Winter 14/15. I This was the first time the two shows have been combined into one big event. I had a great time checking out the predicted print and textile trends for next year.

Right before I left the shows, I noticed a “featured display” corner of fashion and photography work that was so unique and creative. It ended up belonging to the winning designer of this year’s Hyères International Festival of Fashion & Photography  competition, which partners with Première Vision. The designer was Satu Maaranen, who hails all the way from Helsinki! I was glad chat with her a little about her design aesthetics and the competition.
