Fashion Capitals Every Fashion Blogger Should Visit

When you think about Paris, before you think of the Eiffel tower, you think of Coco Chanel – if you don’t then you have to work up on your fashion mojo. Though style and fashion are not really synonyms, they pretty much depend on one another. Knowing that fashion is a big industry with great influence, we all know that there are centers of that influence – fashion capitals. There are five most important ones: Paris, Milan, Los Angeles, Berlin, and Tokyo. These cities master and lead the fashion world globally. Why these cities are known as the fashion capitals of the world?

Anya Hindmarch Resort 2016 Collection Channels Rainbow Brite

The synopsis of the Rainbow Brite cartoon is as follows: “The adventures of the color protector and her friends (sidekick Twink, the color kids, her horse Starlite, and her human friend Brian).” – IMDb.com
Just in case you are not an 80s baby, I thought I would give a brief intro before sharing the images from the new collection by Anya Hindmarch.  Rainbow Brite was one of my favorite cartoon shows growing up and whenever I see rainbows on anything I tend to think of the show to this very day!

Sophia Webster Shoes + Revlon Lipstick = Fun and Flirty Footwear

Feature image

Suede, it’s a material more commonly associated with shoes than with make-up. However, that was not that the case when shoe designer Sophia Webster was inspired by Revlon’s latest lipstick collection for a new line of footwear. Suede by Sophia is fun and flirty heels based off of lipstick shades.

So why, then, was I so shocked to hear of Webster’s, latest collection, named Suede by Sophia? Well, for starters, the shoes in the collection are not made exclusively from suede; there is plenty of glossy patent leather and vinyl involved too. Webster, who happens to be the shoe designer of the moment, has collaborated with cosmetics giant, Revlon, to produce a capsule collection inspired by the rich and sumptuous colors of Revlon’s ColorStay Ultimate Suede lipstick range. Confused? Well, allow me to explain.

How Punk Went From Street Fashion to High Fashion

feature image

On May 9th, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York opened its doors for its latest fashion exhibition, Punk: Chaos to Couture. Curated by the Met’s Andrew Bolton- with a helping hand from Givenchy’s own maestro of punk, Riccardo Tisci- the exhibition explores the intriguing journey of punk from its subcultural rebellious and anti-social roots to being an integrated part of our fashion industry.

Punk is also an integrated part of New York and London’s fashion heritage. While we Brits feel we have a deep affiliation with punk, after all it is a movement that was undeniably born in London’s King’s Road, the truth is that punk actually originated in New York with bands such as Richard Hell and the Voidoids and the Ramones. Malcolm McLaren, the man who taught Vivienne Westwood everything she knows about punk (well, almost), even credited his infamous look for The Sex Pistols to Richard Hell.
