The peplum is one “recycled” fashion trend that I have wholeheartedly welcomed back. I tend to think it is a great “every woman” type of item. If you have a boyish shape it gives you the illusion of a more shapely figure and if you have natural curves, well that’s even better.
I absolutely LOVE New York City in the Summer! Yes, the temps can get unbearable at times, but there’s always so much to see and do that you just stop into a bodega for a cool drink and keep it moving!
I mentioned in yesterday’s post that last week’s Fashion Star challenge was all about warm weather looks. Well, this post is for one of the other winning looks that I really thought was a “must have” for your summer wardrobe.

Last week’s Fashion Star “It’s Getting Hot In Here” episode challenge was all about warm weather looks. The themes for the challenge included “Tropical Vacation”, “Pool Party” and “Summer in the City”. The designers worked in groups on their “mentor teams” and were challenged to create a collection that was inspired by their given theme.
It may not be Summer yet, but Spring is truly starting to appear. This means more chances to enjoy the weather outdoors and for many soon heading to the beach will become part of the routine. Below I used one of the (now sold out) winning looks, a maxi dress by Designer Cassandra Hobbins. I styled her easy breezy beach dress with accessories all from the same store -Express.com

My absolutely favorite color/hue(s) is Blue and the brighter the blue is even better. So last night when I was watching the watching Wendy Williams show, I fell in love with her new look for Spring. She also put on very fun and quirky blue reading glasses and it was perfection! These “divafied” frames were designed by a guest in the audience and Wendy like them enough to wear them on the show, how cool is that?
She wore a blue scoop neck shell top (Escada), color blocked (taupe/blue) cashmere Continue Reading
Even though the summertime is known to be the most popular season for wedding ceremonies, we all know that there is no true time frame for when weddings must happen. I actually have attended more Fall weddings, than the supposedly more common June weddings. By now most future brides are trying to find the perfect venue, cakes, menu, etc. to prepare for this one big day. I have 4 friends that are getting married between July and October, and I thought it would be fun to create very unique and non-traditional looks for their weddings.
For these looks I have combined affordable pieces with more expensive pieces. Since I believe she designs very lovely, unique and creative designer and better priced wedding gowns, I decided to give all of the “brides” Vera Wang dresses/gowns. The accessories that I have chosen are also for a bride who is not afraid to wear non-traditional shoes, jewelry or hairpieces. For shoes, all of the styles are from Asos.com. For jewelry, all of the styles are from Shopdoseofvitaminf.com (of course, lol). Lastly, I decided to highlight and feature bridal headpieces from thefeatheredhead.com to make the looks complete.

Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. As a marker it typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end. Memorial Day has also become a long weekend increasingly devoted to shopping, family gatherings, fireworks, trips to the beach, and national media events such as the Indianapolis 500 auto race. – Wikipedia.com
We will officially welcome the start to “lazy summer days” this weekend! During which many of us (here in the States) will attend beach parties, backyard BBQ’s and top it all off with a few nights of going out. Not to forget the real reason for celebrating Memorial Day, let’s try to pay tribute to the holiday with “Americana” themed weekend style. We’ve put together 3 different looks, (Beachy Keen, Grill Stripe Chic, and Flirty/Fitted- Festive/Flowy) that will be perfect for your various holiday weekend festivities. All items shown are from shopdoseofvitaminf.com, Asos.com and Converse.com

Last Saturday was an “amazingly gorgeous-blinding sun-must enjoy the outdoors” type of day here in NYC…
Being fully committed to taking advantage of the beautiful weather, I remained out and about from late afternoon into late evening. It’s a well known fact that on any given day in the city you can find many fashionable people strolling the “sidewalk runways” in great style.
Throughout my day and evening; it became apparent that I had missed the “must wear yellow denim today”, fashion memo! During my travels within BOTH Brooklyn and Midtown Manhattan, I saw people who had decided to embrace the color of the sun within their wardrobe as well. I have to say I am loving it, and will soon jump on the “sunshine yellow” bandwagon soon!
To wear this retina stimulating hue during the day, we suggest that you keep it clean and minimal. The jeans should be the focus of your look. Shades of blue or gray always goes great with a bright yellow bottom (skirt/pant). We took a relaxed day at the beach kind of approach for our casual day look by adding simple yet creative jewelry pieces and shiny silver sandals.
