If girls and women from nineteenth and twentieth century could catch a glimpse of modern women and today’s fashion trends, they would have been shocked. With fashion designers becoming more bold and innovative every season, it was a matter of time when they would decide that ‘keeping things hidden’ (and by ‘things’ we mean underwear) was too boring a trend and that it lacked a fresh perspective. As a result, women all over the world are wearing their underwear as a statement piece of clothing and are not ashamed of showing it off.
I have always been a fan of vintage fashion and the different styles that come with each decade. This particular season I found myself really loving the modern 70’s fashion trends that have been taking over! Even though I have a list of trends that I think are great, I’ll just be sharing my favorite three:
Turtlenecks are making a comeback and are becoming very trendy again in the fashion world. Turtlenecks are classic and now that they’re becoming more modern they don’t have to be considered “bad fashion” anymore.
To be perfectly honest, I never thought I would join the ‘I have had a plastic surgery’ club; it was simply something I believed was ‘out of my league’. I believed the girls who do that are shallow and too vain, and refused to even think about a surgery until I was sixty. It happened that I had to reconsider all that because of my eyebrows. I never knew how important person’s eyebrows are until I started having difficulties with mine. They stood too low on my face and had made my life miserable for several years.
The easiest way to transition your wardrobe from season to season consists of three simple steps.
Step One is Clothing, whether it’s a dress, shirt, or skirt.
Step Two will be Shoes, from the perfect heel to the most comfortable flats.
Step Three will include accessories.
With the guidance of this easy process you’ll be able to put together the perfect outfit! Today’s post will show you two easy ways to modernize your style for the upcoming season.
The Modern Victorian
1. LRB (Little Ruffle Dress)- For this trend, you’ll need a ruffle dress or a simple black or white dress with a smooth silhouette complemented by long string ties. The dress you wear should not only be stylish, but it should be comfortable and easy to move around in.
The last weekend of the summer is always full of activities, which also means it’s full of wardrobe changes and figuring out what to wear to each event. You could possibly have several things you go to in one day or something each day of the weekend. In this post I styled looks for both women and men for the most popular Labor Day weekend events – Brunch, Beach and BBQ.
Brunch– A denim crop top, a striped full skirt, brown wedge sandals and a cute Palm tree tote will have you feeling like you are brunching in style with little effort. Continue Reading →
While working at Dick’s sporting goods recently I had the opportunity to work with their merchandising team on a brand new active wear line by singer Carrie Underwood called Calia. I have to admit that after three days of working alongside the other merchandisers on this project; I totally found a reason to buy some new clothes for the gym!
So what is Calia exactly? Calia, as I stated earlier, is a new line of exercise wear by Carrie Underwood. However what makes is unique is the fact that it is specifically designed not only as exercise wear, but also for women on the go. These clothes are things you can definitely wear everyday while out shopping, running errands, or just having lunch with friends, without looking like a gym rat. I feel this is the reason I was so drawn to the Calia line myself, because they’re not so much exercise clothes but they are lifestyle clothes. And with how crazy my life can be I was thrilled to find an exercise line that I could wear all day while running errands, doing photo shoots (yes these clothes are actually appropriate for my job! Awesome, right?) and having casual lunch meetings with clients. I have to say it was great not to have to change once I got to Planet Fitness. Another great thing I have to point out about this line is that it is incredibly comfortable as well as incredibly well made and true to size (something I feel is hard to gauge in active wear nowadays).
Being a tomboy does not mean that we do not know how to dress or that we do not like dressing up we just have a certain way of pulling it off. The greatest thing about being this type of female is that nobody is aware of what you look like in a dress and a cute pair of heels. While wearing our choice of clothing we often hide our shapes without actually intending to. However, we are also considered the most modest amongst our group of friends and when we do dress to impress everyone is normally super surprised by the level of our style.
Sweatpants and sneakers will always be my best friend but I have recently noticed how much I also love wearing heels. I will assume the problem is the comfortability of the sweat pants and the cuteness of the heels. But I am here to assure you that it is perfectly okay to love both heels and sneakers.
I remember my freshman year of college like it was yesterday. There were some amazing things about being away from home for the first time in my life, and there were some not so great things as well. One of the not so great things was gaining the “fashion fifteen” (along with another 15), Lol! I did however enjoy the fab things that I could buy to decorate my dorm and cute yet comfy outfits I wore.
Are you a freshman in college this semester? Wouldn’t it be great to only gain style not pounds this semester? With these essential, yet fashionable school items you will be fashionably in shape for your freshman year of college.
