DOVF Interview: A Creative Chat with Jewelry Designer Aisa Marie Corrales

Back in June of last year, I had attended The Set NYC – Fashion Night Out! event for the first time and really enjoyed capturing the “style from the aisles” as noted in this blog post. This past September I had the pleasure of attending again. This was one of the events that I was looking forward to the most, as it encompassed fashion, food, drinks and shopping. The Set NYC charity and fashion event also tends to showcase up and coming designers as well as other fashion creatives. This time I focused more on getting to know the designers that were showcasing there work on the outskirts of the runway. The first highlighted designer that caught my eye had models standing on a platform showcasing very exquisite and unique jewelry pieces, which truly looked like works of art!
As I approached the models to get a better look and to take a few pictures, I noticed that the designer seemed to be standing close by. I introduced myself and told her how amazing her collection of work was, as we chatted she seemed so humble and excited to be showing off her work. I had to stay in contact with her as I knew she would be up to great things and I wanted a front row seat to her journey. As usual with all my interviews, I thought it would be great to share with you the person behind this amazing work. Read on and get to know how broken jewelry made her who she is today, why Taylor Swift is her style crush and where in the world you will be able to shop Aisa Marie Corrales Designs soon!

2015-06-18 16.37.39-1This past Thursday, I had the pleasure to attend an Exclusive Blogger Event hosted by Full Figured Fashion Week. It was a collection preview event to hear about, look at, and try on both Hal Rubenstein and Marla Wynne’s newest collections for HSN! The event was held at the Nation Design Showroom and it was a lovely and very welcoming space full of the most popular Plus Size bloggers and influencers…  and I was definitely among them as a newbie and excited for the opportunity to be in the same room.

The Set NYC – Fashion Night Out!

 FNO Promo Ad
The Set NYC, who has become known for showcasing some of New York’s up and coming creative talent, held a one night-only fashion event at the Holy Apostles Ballroom in Chelsea last night. The venue alone is an amazing backdrop to any dramatic or artistic event or performance. Fashion Night Out was the type of event that a unique venue choice will only better highlight the designers work and compliment the creative atmosphere.
I arrived fashionably late and missed the first runway show by Reverie New York, and if it was anything like the other two shows, I definitely missed out by running late!! The last two shows featured collections by Alex Vinash and (Project Runway Alum), Irina Shabayeva.

Fall Into Fall

As I opened my front door today, the wind whispered, rustling the leaves on my trees in the front yard. Gosh! Autumn has arrived. Just the thought of having to go out and buy new clothes is daunting, yet upon flipping through the pages of Elle, the October issue, I had a change of thought. This year may actually be fun!

So I started out by ordering a pair of fall/winter boots from JustFab.com and boy when they arrived I was pretty happy. Check out my video below and then go get yourself a pair.

It’s A Greek Thing – Bold Prints & Bright Color: From The Streets Of Crete To The Catwalks In Athens

feature image

Last month I spent ten glorious days in Crete. The largest and most southerly of the Greek islands, Crete is well known, largely for its reputation as a popular holiday destination, though having visited the island myself I feel it is also the most under-appreciated. Yes the climate is everything a sun-seeking tourist could hope for (38 degrees and getting hotter) and the beaches are stunning, the Greek salads are mouth watering and the locals are always smiling, but Crete has so much more to offer.

So much more in the form of silk, jersey, cotton, lace and crepe. Bright colors and bold prints served up in a delicious cocktail of delicate floaty fabrics. Strolling around Heraklion, in Crete, I saw such a vivacious mix of bright colors and patterns that I instantly fell in love with the Greek style.
