A few weeks ago I sat down wit Ashley Lindo who is a good friend of mine to talk about style among other fashion related topics. Ashley is a 20 year old Fashion retail and management student at The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham. I chose to interview Miss Lindo because her style has always stood out to me way before we became friends. When I think of a “Fashionista” this girl definitely comes to mind. Read on to find out where Ashley’s love for fashion came from and why she adores Rihanna and Olivia Palmero!
When it comes to wearing makeup a lot of women like to look as natural as possible. Now, just because you want to come off as wearing minimal makeup doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with it or have a “beat” face. The “no makeup”makeup look also known as the “natural makeup” trend has become very popular on the runways and leaves people wondering of all the tricks used to achieve such looks. My goal is to tell you how to do two simple natural makeup looks!
I have always been a fan of vintage fashion and the different styles that come with each decade. This particular season I found myself really loving the modern 70’s fashion trends that have been taking over! Even though I have a list of trends that I think are great, I’ll just be sharing my favorite three:
Turtlenecks are making a comeback and are becoming very trendy again in the fashion world. Turtlenecks are classic and now that they’re becoming more modern they don’t have to be considered “bad fashion” anymore.
“I’m gonna pop some tags, only got twenty dollars in my pocket…” may sound familiar to you I’m sure. That line is from Macklemore’s famous song titled Thrift Shop. When this song became as big as it did it not only made Macklemore popular, but it also introduced thrifting to many people who were probably unaware of it before.
First off I would like to define “thrifting”. Thrifting is the term used for shopping in Thrift Stores. These are stores that sell secondhand clothing and other goods typically used to raise funds for a charitable institution. So when you get to the point, it’s shopping for used clothing that other people no longer can fit or want at an affordable price.
The terms Fashion and Stylealways seem to be used interchangeably by people, when in fact they have two completely different meanings! Separating the two is quite easy when you have someone break it down for you, and that is what I’m here to do.
Now according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary Fashion is a popular way of dressing during a particular time or among a particular group of people: the business of creating and selling clothes in new styles. Fashion is ever changing and usually what is considered to be “in” is what designers, fashion houses, and models make contemporary at the moment. Style on the other hand is a particular way in which something is done, created, or performed also taken from the Merriam-Webster dictionary. With Fashion being ever changing, something that may be “in” one day can easily be considered “out” of fashion the next. Styleis what makes a person’s fashion choices stand out. It is what a person chooses to add his/her own unique twist.
