“Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world”; Very aptly said by the great Marilyn Monroe, right shoes even at the wrong time with the wrong attire can overturn the situation, such is the power they wield.

Stilettos, wedge heels, and platforms are every girls’ magic wand, no matter how painful they might get, they will stand tall with a smile on their face; however times are changing, slow and steady but I can see the change. Comfort is finally starting to gain a little bit of importance when it comes to footwear and guess who the happiest person is- ME of course! Do not get me wrong- I do love them 7-inches killer heels, but I also beg for comfort, especially on a rainy/icy day, when one has to walk miles, stay on feet for entire day/night, flats come to my rescue!

It is a wrong notion amongst most people that flats equals to non-glamorous and boring; however the changing trends are here to prove otherwise.

My favorite trend this season is the loafers. I love how they are so versatile and fit in with a number of looks, starting from the classic boyish look, to vintage, the bohemian, or the busy blogger. There are umpteen styles available, like the classic loafers or the ones that are embellished/studded, and the little more on the formal side that can transform a drab dress into a ready for the evening attire.  I own a pair from almost every style out there, but my favorite pair is a black n gold brocade loafer from Topshop.

Another raging unique trend this season is the printed/embroidered fashion trainers. When trainers look so fun why should one just wear them in the gym? Right? They have absolutely captured my attention and made me lust for the right pair, although I have already invested in a pair with psychedelic neon colors thrown all over a white base trainer! In LOVE!

Ballet pumps with a T-bar detailing are great with slim fit jeans, or even with the bohemian look. They are delicate and would make a great pair for a very girly look especially with florals.

With summer in its full glory, gladiators/strappy flats cannot be left behind.  They have seen a few seasons of trending now, and definitely looks like they are going nowhere anytime soon. However the sandal boot is something that I am still not able to come to a decision about, pass or fail?!

Ankle length flat boots with strappy edginess to them are the flavor of the season, but it’s the Chelsea boots are a more of a classic option that will always remain stylish and have an added advantage of going very well under trousers as well.

Talking about flats and not mentioning the classic ballet flats would not be quite right. They are one of the most reliable and seasoned styles, with every new season seeing a new twist making them fresh and hip. I have always found color blocking to be a very interesting style; be it clothes or accessories and this season is going to be big on the footwear. Make sure you at least own one pair for the day you have no energy to make an effort with the rest of the attire. These will make your outfit pop!

Whatever your style, make sure you incorporate few of them flats in your outfit, they are definite to increase your style quotient this spring, and who knows could be more than those painful 7-inches stilettos!
