Eco-friendly apparel and accessories are nothing new, but there has been an increased shift in taping into making items more fashion forward at the same time. There are designer clothing labels taping into this concept which many hope to make a “style, instead of just a trend” within the industry. (sidenote: check out www.fashionmegreen.com)
The most recent eco-fashion trend accessories movement that I have been noticing, has been to create sustainable and eco-friendly eyewear.
One new company that seems to have created a truly “cool” vibe with their collections, is the Portland, Oregon based wooden eyewear company Shwood.
The company’s handcrafted wooden eyewear pieces are all made within their Portland based workshop and manufacturing location. Their is more than attention to style and design detail that goes into making each Shwood piece, it is a true “experiment with nature” which is also Shwood’s tagline. The company tries to experiment with ways to showcase the unique elements of the wood by keeping close to it’s natural qualities as a material.
Here are a few of the looks from their past and current collections:
This style is sold out, but I just loved the pattern and elements of color!
Shwood’s newest items are the “Stone Collection”, it’s noted as their “most innovative product yet“. Truly the most unique and creative collection, that blends “genuine slate with premium Birch wood“. Click image below to see how they are made, it’s really an amazing process.
There are only going to be 200 pairs sold, so if you like what you see and have $325 in your sunglasses fund, you need to buy them today!
