Topshop: One Season Ahead

Topshop is one of my favourite stores on the high street! In fact you will often find me in the Topshop store round the corner from work on my lunch break either browsing or queuing up to pay for a fab find.

So last week on a typical lunch break there I was in Topshop browsing when something caught my eye, it was black and fury, as a faux fur lover, I walked over to take a closer look at this amazing number quicker than you could say ‘fabulous’. I can reveal that the faux fur item was a black faux fur gillet and it had my name written all over it, it was lovely and I knew I had to have it in my life . Right next to this gillet was a gorgeous chunky Aztec boyfriend/oversized cardigan…

As I tried both items on, two things occurred to me; 1) how cute the cardigan would look with my favourite denim shorts and 2) that I was trying on knitwear and faux fur in July when it’s meant to be summer!

As I looked around the store it was clear that first hit of AW12 collection had landed in stores that same day. I know this as I was in Topshop on Sunday afternoon (yes I am a Topshop addict) and this collection was not in store. The store was now also surrounded by lots if autumnal great pieces. Think boucle, tweed, leather, chunky knitwear lots of monochrome and more leather.

Collar me

Collars were big trend for SS12 and continue to be a key trend for A/W12.  This gorgeous collared top is hitting two trends at once with the peplum at the waist. Again the peplum has been a big trend this SS12 and it will also live on into next season. This top is a must have and it is a perfect day to night option! Team this top with a pair of cigarette pants- (a key trouser leg shapes for AW12), heels and red lipstick for that understated glam look.
