The Met Gala -Top Four Themes of the Red Carpet!

I know I may be late with this post, and by now you probably have seen all of the red carpet images from “the fashion industry’s big night out” plasters throughout the internet. There are various blog posts on all the looks, best and worst dressed lists, the scandal behind Kim K’s non-invite, and how great the exhibit is in general. Even with all that said, now that the exhibit is open to the public I still wanted to give my two cents. ;)

I want to take this time to focus on the four main “styling theme” takeaways of the evening: Black dresses with Feathers, Textural Golds and Blacks, Sheer panels/overlays and of course Peplums! This is not a best or worst list, this is just plain observation of dress choices. **sidenote, basically any of the dresses in orange would have made the worst dresses list**

1. Black dresses with Feathers

(Amy Pohler & Beyonce, both incorporated two of the other themes listed by including: a peplum, and sheer elements as well!)

Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations was organized by Harold Koda and Andrew Bolton, The Costume Institute. While looking at the similarities and differences of these two amazing designers the exhibit has taken on several themes- Waist Up/Waist Down, Neck Up/Knee Down, Hard Chic, Naif Chic, Ugly Chic, Exotic Body, The Classic Body and The surreal Body, in order to “discuss” each designer’s aesthetic.

Make this on your summer events to do list! I know I will be trying to visit!
