The Wanted- Real Voices, Real Style, Real Lads…

There have definitely been many artists from across the pond that have tried to break into the American music scene. The most recent UK group’s success has been one for the history books…

The Wanted is a “new to the U.S.” (started in UK in 2009), boyband that consists of 5 regular gents from across the UK and Ireland. The group was formed by Jayne Collins, who conducted mass auditions across the UK. It was obvious these guys were all very talented individually, so combining that talent to create amazing harmonizing sounds, was genius!

They released their Self-titled debut album in July 2010 with the hit single “All Time Low” which quickly shot to #1 on the UK music charts. In 2011 they were nominated for Best British Single at the BRITS awards. In November 2011 of the same year, they released their second album “Battleground”, with another hit single titled “Warzone”. They have had huge success with all of their singles from both of these albums, reaching the Top 5 on the UK music charts. With their fast success in the UK, they decided to conquer America next. So, this past January they made their American TV debut performing their second number one UK single, (now their first #1U.S. single) “Glad You Came” on the Ellen Show! Then in February they announced and launched their U.S. Tour.

Most recently the lads have made music history by becoming the highest charting UK boyband on the US Billboard Charts, and for going platinum for 1 million sales of their debut single “Glad You Came”. It has only been a little over two months and these guys have truly morphed into their name, already becoming the most sought after group of the year! All the hard work has lead to the debut of their first U.S. Album! This album, (available tomorrow!) will be an EP  including songs from their Battleground UK album, as well as new songs like their latest crowd favorite “Chasing The Sun”. The boys performed this latest single for the first time EVER last week on The Voice!

Although they pretty much do their own “styling”, they tend to still look like a group. Usually the common pieces seen on any of them consists of a nice military style jacket, fitted graphic tees, plaid/solid buttoned shirts, deep scoop neck tanks or v-neck tshirts, dropped crotch skinny jeans/sweatpants with various details, funky high tops, tailored blazers, or leather motorcycle jackets.

Check out their style profiles below:

TOM PARKER: The "Rockstar" of the group, you will find him in military and motorcycle jackets, regular skinny jeans or dropped crotch jeans/sweatpants, sometimes he will also don a deep scoop neck tank or deep v-neck tshirt as well.

JAY McGUINESS: The "All-American Frat Boy Brit" of the group. You can find Jay wearing very much everyday styles, with little details. He wears the most buttoned shirts out of all of the guys and definitely tends to wear lots of layers. His style tends to be similar to an "All- American Frat Boy", but with a little more polishing.

NATHAN SYKES: The "Trendy Little Brother" of the group. You will find Nathan wearing various street fashion that would resemble any skater or urban preppy or young schoolboy look. He usually wears a hat whether out and about or during stage performances. The youngest member of the group his style tends to be age appropriate, fun and creative.

SIVA KANESWAREN: The "Irish Model" of the group. You will pretty much always looking "runway ready", even on his most disheveled days. He tends to wear the most dropped crotch pant styles of the group, which are always very unique in structure and details. Siva is also good for wearing lots of leather jackets and tailored blazers. His look is edgy yet polished at the same time, with perfectly coiffed hair to top it off.

MAX GEORGE: The "Man Cleavage Embracer" of the group. You will find Max wearing various types of deep scoop tops, whether they are tanks or t-shirts with a deep V he embraces it all. Max also loves a great pair of funky sneakers, graphic t-shirts with funny sayings and fitted motorcycle jackets.

I won’t lie and say that their British and Irish accents aren’t a bonus when working to gain thousands of adoring new fans, but it is also undeniable that these guys are VERY talented. Not only do they have great charm, but they have great style, and are really normal everyday guys. They love to connect with their fans as much as they love to joke around and be silly. They embrace the reality that they’re not dancers, but just singers and musicians instead. They may have a hard time getting into choreography, but the fact is there still needs to be continuous “fist pumps”, more “shoulder dances” and “head nods” to compensate.
