Couture Fashion Week -NYC!!

On September 16th, I had the opportunity to attend Couture Fashion Week in NYC. It was easily THE most exciting and amazing day of my life so far.  George Roberts, host of Veja TV and The Fashion Channel, was able to put me on the guest list of Sisa Designs by Brazilian designer Simone Rodrigues.

The show took place at the Waldorf Astoria, on Park Avenue in New York City.  We were on the guest list for the 6 pm show, but were lucky enough to stay for the 8pm showing as well.  Being one of the first big runway shows I have attended, I was so taken back and so focused on the designs I even forgot to take pictures! Luckily after the runway shows I was able to attend the red carpet portion to see the designs up close and take some pictures.

The second designer to show at 8pm was Amal Sarieddine.  She is a Lebanese designer who specializes in evening and bridal gowns.  Most of her clientele are socialites of the Middle East, Europe, and the US.  She was easily my favorite designer that showed that night, probably due to my background in the wedding industry.

The whole night at Couture Fashion Week was incredible.  There is just so much of the detail (beading and embroidery) the designers put hours into creating that gets lost in picutres, even videos, of their shows. The red carpet event was even more exciting than the show itself.  Once the show is finished the models are able to walk around the room to get their pictures taken and to also get interviewed.  By doing so, they also are enabling their garments to be seen upclose.  If anyone gets the opportunity to go to any runway show, it is absolutely worth it.  All of the designers were from different countries and were able to put their background and experiences into their garments and the diversity between their designs is one of the many reasons I love to being apart of the fashion industry.
